The College of New Jersey announced on Mar. 31 a new five-year cross-registration agreement with Princeton University, set to begin in fall 2026, allowing eligible undergraduate and graduate students from both institutions to enroll in select courses at the other school without additional cost.

This collaboration aims to expand academic opportunities for students by giving them access to courses not available at their home campus. The program is designed primarily for upper-level undergraduates who are in good academic standing and have a clear plan of study. “No single institution can offer every specialized course a student might desire,” Tammy Dieterich, TCNJ’s vice provost for academic engagement, said. “By working together, we’re excited to provide this student-centered option and share the unique learning experiences led by our faculty.”

Under the agreement, participating students may apply to take one course per semester that is not offered or substantially similar at their home institution. Enrollment requires approval from administrators at both schools as well as the course instructor. Courses completed through this arrangement will count toward degree requirements according to existing policies.

Students remain enrolled at their home institution throughout participation and must adhere both to its graduation requirements and the host school’s policies during enrollment periods. The agreement will be reviewed after its first two years but is scheduled through the 2030–31 academic year.

The College of New Jersey offers degree programs across disciplines such as arts, business, and engineering according to its official website. Its teams have won several NCAA championships according to the official website, while it also maintains a tree-lined campus spanning 289 acres according to the official website. The college received recognition from the Council on Undergraduate Research in 2015 according to its official website and was awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter in 2006 according to its official website. TCNJ focuses on education aimed at cultivating critical thinkers and leaders according to its official website.

TCNJ students interested in this opportunity are encouraged to contact Tammy Dieterich via email.
