Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin has announced an appeal against a recent trial court decision concerning public corruption. In his statement, Platkin expressed strong disagreement with the ruling and emphasized the necessity of state-level action against corruption, especially given what he perceives as federal reluctance to address the issue.

Platkin highlighted the significance of combating corruption to restore public trust in government institutions. He acknowledged the challenges involved, noting that many see corruption as a norm among powerful entities in New Jersey. "But I have never promised that these cases would be easy," Platkin stated, recognizing the complexities of such legal battles.

The Attorney General affirmed his commitment to tackling corruption despite the difficulties and reiterated his support for law enforcement officers and prosecutors involved in this ongoing effort. "I won’t back down from that fight," he concluded.
