The College of New Jersey is set to open its new exhibition, "Transformation," on November 8. The exhibit showcases the work of students from the Image-Movement-Sound Lab course, who come from diverse fields such as performing arts, fine arts, graphic design, music, technology, and communication. Professors Elizabeth Mackie and Teresa Nakra have contributed their expertise from the Departments of Art and Art History, Music, and Design and Creative Technology.

The concept of transformation was chosen for its association with flexibility, resiliency, and change. The exhibition will feature dynamic art pieces that evolve throughout the month. Students were tasked with designing installations that integrate visual, auditory, and movement-based media.

"Our aim is to break down disciplinary silos and find a shared vocabulary through creative cooperation that expands the limits of established forms of art and performance," said those involved in the project.

Several related events are scheduled alongside the exhibition. An opening reception will take place on November 8 from 5-7 pm with a performance by the TCNJ Guitar Ensemble directed by Michael Newman. Other gatherings include spoken word presentations on November 16 at 5 pm featuring Harlem Renaissance course participants with Professor Lois Fichner-Rathus; experimental vocal performances by the TCNJ Chorale on November 20 at 5 pm; a TCNJ Jazz Ensemble performance led by Douglas Beavers on December 5 at 3:30 pm; and a closing event titled AIMM After Dark on December 8 from 5-9 pm featuring an open mic session starting at 8 pm.

The exhibition will be held at the TCNJ Art Gallery located in the Art and Interactive Multimedia Building at The College of New Jersey in Ewing, NJ.
