The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) has entered into a partnership with the Hamilton Township School District in Mercer County. This collaboration will allow students to earn up to two years of college credit while still attending high school, potentially reducing the cost of higher education for families in New Jersey.
Starting in September 2024, 26 advanced placement courses will be available as part of TCNJ’s dual enrollment program. These courses, taught by qualified teachers from the Hamilton School District, enable eligible high school students to earn college credits.
“Through this partnership, the cost to receive a college degree can be significantly reduced for families,” said Lisa Angeloni, vice president of enrollment management at TCNJ. She added that the program would enrich and broaden educational experiences for students and provide them with rigorous challenges.
Students who successfully complete a dual enrollment course and achieve a grade of C or better will receive college transfer credit. Scott Rocco, superintendent of Hamilton Township schools, emphasized the importance of this agreement. “HTSD continues to develop and provide high-level educational opportunities for our students,” he stated. He expressed gratitude to TCNJ for their collaboration in expanding learning opportunities.
Lisa Angeloni also highlighted the quality and diversity of the Hamilton Township district, describing it as an excellent partner for expanding TCNJ's dual enrollment program. This marks the 11th New Jersey public school district involved in such a partnership with TCNJ, with plans to include more districts soon.
