The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) is offering a series of summer pre-college programs for high school students, designed to provide them with a head start in various academic fields. These programs are intended for high-achieving students who wish to explore potential career paths in an engaging environment on TCNJ's campus.
From June 23 to 28, TCNJ will host a camp with four distinct tracks: Game Design, Graphic Design, Digital Fabrication, and Music Technology. This program is open to rising ninth graders through graduating seniors. Participants can choose between residential or non-residential options.
Students interested in music can attend classes taught by TCNJ’s music faculty and professionals like Emmy-award-winning composer Jake Runestad and Broadway star Natalie Weiss. This program also runs from June 23 to 28 and is aimed at students aspiring to become music teachers or conductors.
A non-residential science camp will take place from July 15 to 19, focusing on experiments and discoveries across math, physics, computer science, biology, and chemistry. It is designed for rising sophomores, juniors, and seniors interested in the sciences.
From July 21 to 26, a residential biomedical engineering camp will be available for students ranked in the top 30% of their class with interests in engineering or medicine. The cost is $1,850 plus a $39 application fee.
An electrical and computer engineering camp will follow from July 28 to August 2. It targets students passionate about science, math, engineering, artificial intelligence, or wireless communications.
Finally, from August 5 to 19, TCNJ offers an archaeological field school where participants learn excavation techniques at a real site on campus. This program is open to all ages from high school onward and costs $2,171.32.
Interested high school students can register by contacting TCNJ’s Department of Sociology and Anthropology via email.
