The Princeton University Board of Trustees has announced the appointment of five new assistant professors to its faculty. These appointments bring expertise in diverse fields ranging from physics to anthropology.
A. Sylvia Biscoveanu will join the physics department in September 2025. She specializes in gravitational-wave data analysis and black holes, holding a Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and a B.S. and B.A. from Pennsylvania State University.
Michelle H. DiBenedetto is set to join the mechanical and aerospace engineering department in January 2025. Her expertise lies in environmental fluid mechanics and particle-laden flows. DiBenedetto has been an assistant professor at the University of Washington since 2021, and she holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University as well as a B.S. from Cornell University.
Bernard Kim will become part of the ecology and evolutionary biology department in January 2025, bringing his specialization in biology to Princeton. He earned both his Ph.D. and B.S. from the University of California-Los Angeles.
Henry Lin will be joining the physics department as well, but his start date is set for January 2026. Lin's area of expertise is theoretical physics; he completed his Ph.D. at Princeton and holds an A.B. from Harvard University.
Lastly, Jamie Wong will take on roles within anthropology and the Princeton Institute for International and Regional Studies starting September 2025. Wong specializes in science and technology studies with academic credentials including a Ph.D. from MIT, an M.S., an M.Phil., from Oxford University, and a B.A. from the Chinese University of Hong Kong.
These new faculty members are expected to contribute significantly to their respective departments through their research and teaching endeavors.
