Seven Princeton faculty members have received 2024 Guggenheim Fellowships, the largest faculty cohort since 2017. The recipients include Angela Creager, Rebecca Lazier, Jan-Werner Müller, Robert Pringle, Kim Lane Scheppele, Anna Shields, and Corina Tarnita. Additionally, graduate alumni Jenann Ismael *97, Roy Scranton *16, and Julia Wolfe *12, along with undergraduate alumnus Vincent Lloyd from the Class of 2003, were also honored with Guggenheim Fellowships.

According to the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation press statement, these Princetonians are part of a group of 188 scholars selected from nearly 3,000 applicants, representing a diverse range of culture creators across 52 disciplines.

Edward Hirsch, President of the Guggenheim Foundation, expressed his admiration for the new class of Fellows, stating, “The new class of Fellows has followed their calling to enhance all of our lives, to provide greater human knowledge and deeper understanding. We’re lucky to look to them to bring us into the future.”

Each recipient was recognized for their contributions in various fields:

- Angela Creager, the Thomas M. Siebel Professor in the History of Science, received the Guggenheim in the field of history of science, technology, and economics.

- Rebecca Lazier, professor of the practice and associate director of the Program in Dance, was awarded in the field of choreography.

- Jan-Werner Müller, the Roger Williams Straus Professor of Social Sciences, received the Guggenheim in the field of political science.

- Robert Pringle, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, was honored for his work in the field of biology.

- Kim Lane Scheppele, the Laurence S. Rockefeller Professor of Sociology and International Affairs, received the Guggenheim in the field of constitutional studies.

- Anna Shields, the Gordon Wu '58 Professor of Chinese Studies, was awarded in the field of East Asian studies.

- Corina Tarnita, professor of ecology and evolutionary biology, received the Guggenheim in the field of biology.

Among the alumni recipients were:

- Jenann Ismael, a 1997 graduate alumna who is a professor of philosophy at Johns Hopkins University, recognized in the field of philosophy.

- Vincent Lloyd, a 2003 undergraduate alumnus and associate professor of theology at Villanova University, honored in the field of intellectual and cultural history.

- Roy Scranton, a 2016 graduate alumnus and associate professor of English at the University of Notre Dame, received the Guggenheim in the field of literary criticism.

- Julia Wolfe, a 2012 graduate alumna and composer, and professor of music composition at New York University, was recognized for her work in music composition.
