The American Academy of Political and Social Science (AAPSS) has recognized Elizabeth Levy Paluck as one of eight fellows honored this year. Paluck, a Princeton professor known for her work on prejudice and conflict reduction, has been named the academy's 2024 David Riesman Fellow.
In a statement, Marta Tienda, the president of AAPSS, expressed her excitement about the new cohort of fellows, saying, "It is a privilege to welcome another highly accomplished cohort of social scientists as fellows of the AAPSS." Paluck, the Eugene Higgins Professor of Psychology and Public Affairs at Princeton University, has conducted extensive research on various forms of conflict and violence reduction. Through large-scale field experiments, she has developed interventions targeting social norms and behavior to effectively reduce prejudice, violence, and conflict in different settings.
Paluck's impressive academic background includes a Ph.D. and B.S. in psychology from Yale University and a fellowship at the Harvard Academy for International Affairs. Her contributions to the field have been recognized with several awards, including two Robert B. Cialdini Awards for field research, an Early Career Award from the American Psychological Association, and a Graduate Mentoring Award from the McGraw Center for Teaching and Learning at Princeton University.
