TCNJ student-athletes received six New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) weekly honors, according to an announcement from the conference.
Matthew Solomon of men’s basketball was named Defensive Player of the Week. Solomon recorded double-doubles in both games during TCNJ’s NJAC road sweep last week. He scored 11 points and had six assists with a season-high 20 rebounds in a win over William Paterson. In a subsequent game against Kean, he added 12 points, 14 rebounds, and six assists. Over the two games, Solomon also contributed one block per game and three steals while shooting nearly 48 percent from the field.
Lucia Garcia-Beltran earned her second Track Athlete of the Week honor for women’s track & field after achieving another national top-ten time at the Liberty Open in the 200 meters. Her time of 24.65 seconds ranks sixth nationally in Division III and is currently the highest among all female athletes in any NJAC track event. She also ran a preliminary time of 7.68 seconds in the 60 meters, which is second-best in the NJAC behind her own previous mark.
Sarah Scepkowski was recognized as Field Athlete of the Week for women’s track & field for the second time this month after winning the high jump at the Hound Classic with a clearance of 1.63 meters—a personal record that qualifies regionally and ties for seventh-best in TCNJ history.
Beth Evaldi collected her fourteenth career Diver of the Week award by leading TCNJ’s swim & dive team across all diving events last week. She posted top scores on Friday in both one-meter (261.68) and three-meter (282.98) dives, and again led with marks of 244.50 and 191.15 during senior day competition against Montclair State.
Freshman Gabe Beverini was named Rookie of the Week for his performance across six events at two meets, earning three individual wins—in the 200 Free, 200 IM, and 100 Free—and contributing to a relay victory by swimming breaststroke on TCNJ’s winning medley team.
Joshua Kosukhin completed TCNJ’s list of honorees with his first Diver of the Week selection after leading Lions divers on Friday with a score of 217.28 on one-meter dives and finishing second on three-meter with a score of 208.5.
