Senator Robert Singer (R-30) has voiced disappointment after legislation aimed at establishing a state definition of antisemitism did not proceed to a full vote in the New Jersey Legislature during the current session. The proposed bill, S-1292, sought to clarify what constitutes antisemitism and address rising incidents both statewide and on college campuses.

“I am very disappointed. This was a major step in clarifying antisemitism. Unfortunately, we have taken a step back in the state,” Singer said in his statement.

Senator Singer is a prime sponsor of the bill, which has gained support from nearly two-thirds of the Legislature’s 120 members. The bill passed through Senate committee with a 4-1 vote and cleared the General Assembly committee unanimously at 7-0.

While Senator Anthony M. Bucco was not mentioned as involved with this specific legislation, he serves as Senate Republican Leader and chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee, participating in sponsoring bills and legislative discussions on key state issues according to his official website. Bucco represents communities such as Bernardsville Borough, Boonton Town, and Denville Township in New Jersey’s 25th Legislative District.

Additional information about Bucco’s legislative work and constituent services can be found on his official website.
