Senator Jon Bramnick, a Republican representing New Jersey’s 21st District, has announced plans to introduce legislation aimed at holding large companies accountable for their mass communications with consumers.
Bramnick said that many consumers are inundated with text messages, phone calls, and emails from major corporations but face difficulties when trying to reach a live representative for assistance. He stated, “Consumers are constantly receiving text messages, phone calls, and emails from large companies, yet they struggle to reach a live person when they need answers. This leaves customers questioning whether these communications are even legitimate,” said Sen. Bramnick. “I recently experienced this firsthand, when my office had difficulty reaching a real person regarding a Communication company. To that end, I will be drafting legislation entitled the ‘Consumer Bill of Rights’ to hold large corporations accountable by requiring communications to be consumer-oriented, not company-oriented. While these corporations spend millions on advertising, many fail to provide the basic resources to respond to the very customers they rely on and that is simply unacceptable.”
The proposed “Consumer Bill of Rights” would require that corporate communications prioritize consumer needs over company interests.
