Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congress member representing New Jersey’s 12th District since 2015, recently shared several statements on social media. Her messages covered topics ranging from religious observance to addressing violence and gun control.
On June 1, 2025, Coleman extended well-wishes to her constituents celebrating Shavuot. She expressed hope that “the words of the Torah inspire us all for good” and encouraged people to enjoy time with loved ones during this period of learning and reflection.
The following day, June 2, she addressed an incident of antisemitic violence in Boulder. In her post, she stated “I condemn the disturbing and despicable attack in Boulder yesterday.” She noted it was the second such act within weeks and emphasized that such hatred has no place in society while expressing hopes for the victims’ swift recovery.
Later that same day, Coleman marked #GunViolenceAwarenessMonth with a call to action. She tweeted about the importance of remembering those lost to gun violence and committed to continuing efforts to address this issue: “#GunViolenceAwarenessMonth is a solemn remembrance of those who’ve lost their lives to gun violence.”
Coleman, born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945 and residing in Ewing Township, holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University obtained in 1985. Prior to her congressional service, she was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010.
