The following day, July 4, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman extended greetings for Independence Day while reflecting on the historical significance of the occasion. She wrote: “Happy 4th of July everyone. As we celebrate our nation’s 249th birthday today, I am reminded of what led to our great nation’s founding. The Declaration of Independence was, in addition to an elegant expression of our highest ideals, a list of grievances – a litany of offenses”.

On July 5, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman expressed condolences to those affected by severe weather conditions in Plainfield and North Plainfield. She stated: “Praying for the families of those who lost their lives in Plainfield and North Plainfield in last night’s storms.”

Watson Coleman has been an influential political figure since she succeeded Rush Holt Jr., serving New Jersey’s constituents both in Congress and previously in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010.
