Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, has recently expressed her views on several pressing issues via social media.

On May 13, 2025, Coleman criticized former President Donald Trump for allegedly receiving a lavish “gift” from the Qatari government while asking American families to endure economic hardships due to his trade policies. She tweeted: “So Trump asks working families to tighten their belts to pay for his trade war, meanwhile he gets a new $400 million ‘flying palace’ as a ‘gift’ from the government of Qatar to fly around in, which he gets to keep after his term. Real man of the people.”

Later that day, she addressed environmental and infrastructural concerns affecting millions of Americans’ access to water. In her tweet at 17:03 UTC, she stated: “Due to a combination of climate change, outdated infrastructure, and systemic disinvestment in our most vulnerable communities, millions of Americans risk losing access to one of the most basic necessities for human life – water. Access to safe, clean water is a human right.”

The following day on May 14 at 01:03 UTC, Coleman commented on Trump’s immigration policies regarding refugees from Haiti and Venezuela and those who assisted U.S. military personnel in Afghanistan compared with the welcome extended towards white Afrikaners. She tweeted: “When Donald Trump ends temporary protected status for refugees from Haiti and Venezuela and Afghanis who helped our military personnel but opens up the country to white Afrikaners what are we supposed to call it except, ‘Make America White Again?'”

Coleman replaced Rush Holt Jr. in Congress and previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 until 2010. Born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945, she now resides in Ewing Township and graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a BA.
