Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, called for the invocation of the 25th Amendment and urged immediate Congressional action regarding President Donald Trump’s fitness to serve in a series of posts on April 7, 2026.

In her first statement posted at 14:49 UTC, Watson Coleman wrote, “That’s it. It’s time to use the 25th Amendment. In just 48 hours, the president has gone from threatening war crimes to threatening genocide. He is clearly unstable and must be set aside. cc @VP @SpeakerJohnson @ChuckGrassley”.

Later that day at 18:41 UTC, she continued her call for action if the Cabinet failed to respond: “If the Cabinet won’t act, Congress should come back to DC immediately to begin impeachment proceedings. This man is unfit to serve. cc @SpeakerJohnson @LeaderJohnThune @RepJeffries @SenSchumer”.

At 18:50 UTC on the same day, Watson Coleman further pressed for legislative measures concerning presidential war powers: “Congress should return to DC immediately, reintroduce, and pass the @RepThomasMassie – @RepRoKhanna war powers resolution. Donald Trump is not fit to lead.”

Watson Coleman has represented New Jersey’s 12th District in Congress since succeeding Rush Holt Jr. in 2015 and previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township, she graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a BA in 1985.
