Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a member of the U.S. Congress representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, made recent statements on several issues of concern via social media. Her postings highlight pressing topics ranging from former President Trump’s policies to recent legislative efforts she has endorsed.

In a tweet dated April 29, 2025, Coleman pointedly referenced a program signed into law by former President Donald Trump, stating, “Two things here: 1. Trump signed this program into law in 2017. 2. Resign.”

On May 1, 2025, Rep. Coleman addressed a serious incident involving the deportation of a young cancer patient. She tweeted, “The Trump administration deported a 4-year-old citizen with Stage 4 cancer and then LIED about it. His mother did not ‘choose’ to bring him with her — she was denied basic due process and the opportunity to contact family so he could remain in the US. I truly cannot comprehend”.

Later the same day, Coleman announced the introduction of the ICE Visibility Act alongside her colleague Rep. Don Beyer. She stated in her tweet, “Today I announced the introduction of the ICE Visibility Act with my colleague @RepDonBeyer. It would require ICE agents to wear identifiable uniforms during overt actions. There’s no reason Rumeysa Ozturk — a college student taken simply for writing an op-ed — had to be”.

Bonnie Watson Coleman, aged 78, was born in Camden, New Jersey, and currently resides in Ewing Township. A graduate of Thomas Edison State University, Coleman replaced former U.S. Congress member Rush Holt Jr. in 2015, after serving in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010.
