Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, used her social media platform on May 1, 2026, to highlight Jewish American Heritage Month, Mental Health Awareness Month, and share a pointed observation about the current administration.
In a tweet posted at 13:30 UTC on May 1, Rep. Watson Coleman stated: “Happy Jewish American Heritage Month! This May, we celebrate the rich heritage and honor the enduring contributions of countless Jewish Americans whose innovation, resilience and leadership have strengthened and enriched our nation.”
Later that day at 15:00 UTC, she addressed mental health policy efforts in recognition of Mental Health Awareness Month: “This Mental Health Awareness Month, we are reminded of the importance of affordable and accessible mental health care. I have introduced the Pursuing Equity in Mental Health Act and the Youth Mental Health Research Act to combat our nation’s mental health crisis. As your voice in”.
By late afternoon at 17:51 UTC, Rep. Watson Coleman commented on public trust in government with a reference to a well-known adage: “There’s a saying, ‘never attribute to malice that which is adequately explained by incompetence.’ One has to wonder, if this administration is purposely trying to crater the American People’s trust in government or if we’re all suffering from their decision to place loyalty to”.
Watson Coleman has served as representative for New Jersey’s 12th district since replacing Rush Holt Jr. in 2015 and previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010.
