Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congress member representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, recently shared her concerns on social media regarding changes to Social Security services. In a tweet dated March 19, 2025, she criticized the decision to end over-the-phone services for Social Security beneficiaries. “Trump just ended over-the-phone services for Social Security beneficiaries,” she stated. According to Coleman, this change requires individuals needing to update their information or enroll in benefits to visit field offices in person. However, she also noted that numerous field offices are being closed and 7,000 staff members are being laid off.
