Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, recently addressed several national and state issues in a series of posts on her official Twitter account.
On January 22, 2026, Watson Coleman commented on New Jersey’s financial contributions to the federal government: “New Jersey is the biggest donor state per person in the country. We’re a generous people. But if they want to cut NJ off from federal dollars, maybe we should cut them off. What more could New Jersey do with an extra $140 billion dollars? Hmmm” (January 22, 2026).
Later that day, she drew attention to maternal health outcomes in the United States: “America ranks 55th globally for maternal mortality, and last among wealthy nations, despite global declines. It is simply unconscionable that in the wealthiest country in the world, we do not fundamentally guarantee reproductive healthcare. #roevswade” (January 22, 2026).
In another post that evening regarding immigration enforcement funding, Watson Coleman stated: “I voted NO on the DHS funding bill today. ICE has been out-of-control and has made meeting arbitrary quotas and filling detention hall beds its priorities over the safety and civil rights of law-abiding residents. Until real reforms are made that respect the safety and security” (January 22, 2026).
Watson Coleman succeeded Rush Holt Jr. as representative for New Jersey’s 12th district after serving in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township at age 78, she holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University.
