Princeton University announced on Mar. 11 that its campus community raised $65,772.65 during the 2025 United Way Campaign to support the United Way of Greater Mercer County’s education, financial stability, food insecurity, and health programs.
The campaign highlights the university’s ongoing commitment to supporting local initiatives that address key community needs. The funds will help provide resources for a range of programs benefiting residents in Mercer County and employees’ home communities.
According to the university, fifty-one employees volunteered as campaign organizers across more than 33 departments and at the Princeton Plasma Physics Laboratory. These volunteers coordinated fundraising events and supply drives to benefit United Way programs. Contributions from faculty, staff, and retirees totaled $58,059.04.
The university matched gifts with an additional 15 cents on the dollar for payroll deduction contributions and 10 cents on the dollar for all other gifts, resulting in a total university contribution of $7,713.61. Employees also had the option to direct their donations toward specific United Way programs such as Strike Out Hunger or educational kits for local school children.
A Holiday Bake-Off event brought together students, faculty, and staff who submitted more than 20 entries judged on presentation, taste, and creativity. After prizes were awarded, baked goods were sold to raise further funds included in the overall total.
All donations from this campaign will be distributed either to United Way programs in Mercer County or employees’ designated agencies focused on health and human services.
