The Service Recognition Luncheon was held on March 26 at the new Racquet and Recreation Fieldhouse in the Meadows Neighborhood, celebrating the achievements of Princeton University staff. The event honored 420 staff members for their service milestones reached in 2024. Additionally, six staff members received the President’s Achievement Award, and two employees were honored with the Donald Griffin ’23 Management Award.
Romy Riddick, vice president for human resources and host of the event, stated, “Gathering here today to celebrate our incredible honorees and award winners is a heartwarming reminder of what makes working in higher education and at Princeton so truly special.” These employees received certificates featuring a special Nassau Hall rendering and commemorative pins for their years of service, and some also chose gifts from the Princeton Service Recognition Program collection.
President Christopher L. Eisgruber addressed attendees, emphasizing the collective contribution of the honorees. “Together, the 420 employees we celebrate today have devoted a staggering 8,040 years to our University community,” he said, highlighting their profound impact on Princeton.
The President’s Achievement Awards were established in 1997 to recognize staff members’ dedication and contributions. Gilbert Collins, for instance, was acknowledged for his work at the Center for Health and Wellbeing. Other recipients included Laura Darrell, Bob Macfarlan, David Radcliff, Ken Strother, Jr., and Marion Young, each recognized for their significant roles and achievements within the university.
The Donald Griffin ’23 Management Award, celebrating its 100th year, was awarded to Brendan Byrne and Aarifa Mohammed. This accolade included a $2,500 grant for professional development.
