Princeton appoints Ethan Russo and Kyle Mitchell Pietrzyk as new assistant professors

The Princeton University Board of Trustees has approved the appointment of two new assistant professors.

Ethan Russo has joined the Department of Philosophy as an assistant professor, effective January 16. Russo’s areas of expertise include metaphysics, logic, and ancient Greek philosophy. He received his Ph.D. from New York University and holds both a B.A. and B.S.A. from the University of Texas at Austin.

Kyle Mitchell Pietrzyk will join the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering as an assistant professor in September 2026. Pietrzyk’s research focuses on multiscale modeling of porous media systems, mesoscale materials simulation, and nonlinear control design for energy systems. He earned his Ph.D. from Stanford University and also holds an M.S. and B.S. from Santa Clara University.
