A Philadelphia resident has been charged with serious offenses related to an alleged attempt to sexually assault a minor. Bruce Drelich, 60, faces charges including conspiracy to commit human trafficking and attempted aggravated sexual assault.

Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin highlighted the gravity of such crimes, stating, “Sex crimes targeting children are some of the most disturbing matters my office investigates.” He praised the investigators for preventing Drelich from executing his plans.

Theresa L. Hilton, Director of the Division of Criminal Justice (DCJ), warned about online dangers: “The internet is a dangerous place, providing a level of cover for people who are trying to conceal their dangerous criminal intentions.”

Colonel Patrick J. Callahan emphasized the severity of these crimes and reiterated the commitment to protecting children: “Human trafficking and the exploitation of a child are crimes that strike at the very core of our society’s values.”

The arrest stemmed from an operation involving an undercover officer posing as a mother with a 12-year-old daughter on a mobile application. Drelich allegedly expressed interest in meeting them for illicit purposes and was apprehended at a hotel in Bordentown, New Jersey.

Deputy Attorney General Michael Forte is handling the prosecution. If convicted, Drelich could face significant prison time and fines based on the severity of each charge.

The authorities remind that charges are accusations until proven guilty in court.
