No. 14 TCNJ women’s lacrosse team falls to unbeaten Muhlenberg

The No. 14 ranked TCNJ women’s lacrosse team lost to undefeated Muhlenberg by a score of 11-5 on March 25 in Allentown, Pennsylvania.

This game was significant as it featured two of the remaining unbeaten teams in Division III at the time. The loss marks the first defeat of the season for TCNJ, which now holds a record of 6-1, while Muhlenberg improves to a perfect 9-0 start, their best in program history.

CJ Kole scored three goals for TCNJ in the first quarter, helping her team build an early lead of 3-1. However, Muhlenberg responded with strong defensive play and kept TCNJ from scoring for more than two quarters. Meaghan Haughney made nine saves for Muhlenberg and Emma Youngling led their offense with five goals and an assist. Alyssa Hartnett contributed three assists and one goal.

Muhlenberg dominated draw controls throughout the game, finishing with a large advantage of 15-3 over TCNJ. The Mules also outshot their opponents by a margin of 31-22 and limited the Lions to well below their average number of goals per game this season.

Other notable performances included Marissa Lucca moving into sole possession of fourteenth place on TCNJ’s all-time points list with her career total reaching 232 points. Abby Williams recorded five caused turnovers and two ground balls during the match.

Looking ahead, TCNJ will travel back to Pennsylvania on Saturday for a matchup against Lebanon Valley.
