The New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) recognized Vonnie Gros on Mar. 31 as part of its celebration of Women’s History Month.
Gros, a 1953 graduate of Palmyra High School, is highlighted by the association as one of the most influential figures in developing field hockey in America. The NJSIAA’s recognition aims to celebrate trailblazing women who have contributed significantly to athletics in New Jersey.
The association said it is honoring these individuals to mark Women’s History Month and raise awareness about their impact on sports. “To celebrate #WomensHistoryMonth, NJSIAA is honoring the trailblazing women in NJ athletics,” the organization said.
Gros’s achievements are being shared with the public as an example of leadership and dedication within women’s sports. The NJSIAA invited readers to learn more about her career and influence by visiting its website.
This recognition forms part of broader efforts by organizations across New Jersey to highlight women’s contributions during March, which is nationally recognized as Women’s History Month.
