Bipartisan legislation sponsored by Senator Latham Tiver designating June 10 of each year as “Christina Grimmie Day” in New Jersey was approved by the State Senate on May 28.
The joint resolution honors the life and legacy of Christina Grimmie, a Marlton singer and songwriter whose musical talent and spirit inspired many. June 10, 2026, will mark ten years since her death following a concert performance in Orlando, Florida.
“Christina Grimmie was not only an incredibly gifted artist, but a South Jersey native whose kindness, talent, and passion for music touched millions around the world,” said Senator Latham Tiver. “She made New Jersey proud, and this resolution ensures her legacy continues to be remembered and celebrated here at home. Christina’s story still inspires young artists everywhere, and her impact on music and popular culture continues to be felt today.”
Grimmie gained national recognition through YouTube with performances that attracted hundreds of millions of views. She later became a finalist on NBC’s “The Voice,” released chart-topping songs and albums, and earned an American Music Award.
The resolution SJR-137 formally recognizes Christina Grimmie’s cultural impact, honors her New Jersey roots, and raises awareness about supporting victims and families affected by tragedy.
