Kelly Nevins and Abbie Teefy combined for 11 goals as the No. 18 TCNJ women’s lacrosse team opened New Jersey Athletic Conference play with a 14-4 victory over Montclair State on Apr. 1.

The game marked a strong start to conference competition for TCNJ, which extended its regular-season conference winning streak to 25 games since a loss to Montclair in 2021. The Lions also maintained their six-game unbeaten run at home.

Nevins scored a career-high six goals, all within the first sixteen minutes of play, while Teefy contributed five goals for her own personal best. Defensively, five Lions players caused at least two turnovers each, helping limit Montclair State (3-4, 0-1) to one goal per quarter. Nevins opened the scoring just thirteen seconds into the game and quickly added another less than a minute later.

Teefy scored twice around Montclair’s opening goal before Nevins added two more in under ninety seconds, pushing TCNJ ahead early. By halftime, the Lions led by nine after additional goals from Marissa Lucca, Teefy, Nevins again, and Ashly Herlihy.

In the second half, both teams’ scoring slowed but TCNJ continued to control possession and tempo. Hailey Wexler made five saves while allowing three goals through three quarters; Kylie Kurtz recorded her first career saves in relief during the fourth quarter alongside Jordyn Landman who finished out the game.

Other notable performances included Lucca’s two goals and two assists along with five ground balls and two caused turnovers; Potenza added two assists as well as defensive contributions; Meghan Hogan and Herlihy each forced three turnovers apiece; Abby Williams had four ground balls plus key draw controls.

Lucca moved into a tie for twenty-second in program history with her one hundred fifty-fourth career goal while Potenza is now tied for twentieth all-time with fifty-four caused turnovers. Williams’ twenty-eight caused turnovers this season are already tied for thirteenth most in school history.

TCNJ will next travel to Farmingdale State on Saturday.
