Margo DelliCarpini has been appointed as the new Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at The College of New Jersey (TCNJ), effective July 1, 2025. TCNJ President Michael A. Bernstein made the announcement today.
DelliCarpini has been with The Pennsylvania State University since 2021, starting as chancellor of Penn State Abington and professor of linguistics. By 2023, she had advanced to Vice President for Commonwealth Campuses & Executive Chancellor, overseeing Penn State’s 20 Commonwealth Campuses, including six comprehensive colleges and other academic units.
“Dr. DelliCarpini will be a stalwart leader of our extraordinary faculty and a wonderful partner for the college’s leadership team,” Bernstein stated. “She possesses impeccable academic credentials, brings an impressive record of academic administrative leadership, and has a strong appreciation for the teacher-scholar model.”
Expressing her enthusiasm about joining TCNJ, DelliCarpini said, “I am thrilled and honored to be joining TCNJ as the next Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and look forward to working with President Bernstein and the campus community.” She further emphasized that TCNJ’s mission aligns with her own professional values regarding public higher education.
During her tenure at Penn State, DelliCarpini aligned campus budgets with resources and created strategic funding sources to foster student growth. She also led initiatives in economic development within surrounding communities. Her efforts included reimagining professional academic advising through data-driven frameworks.
Before her role at Penn State, she served as Vice Provost for Strategic Educational Partnerships & Dean for the College of Education and Human Development at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Her educational background includes a B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. in Linguistics from Stony Brook University.
