In her debut for the TCNJ women’s track and field team, Lucia Garcia-Beltran broke a 14-year-old program record at the Lions Indoor Invitational in New York. Garcia-Beltran ran the 60-meter dash in 7.63 seconds, surpassing Miriam Khan’s previous record of 7.74 seconds set in 2011. Her performance currently ranks as the fifth-fastest time in Division III.
Other notable performances included Sarah Scepkowski, who finished fifth in the 60m hurdles with a personal best of 9.34 seconds. Kelly O’Grady won the 500m race with a time of 1:16.62, finishing more than a second ahead of her closest competitor from Fordham.
In the 300m event, Kelsey Thomas clocked in at 41.75 seconds while Mackenzie Burke set a new personal best with a time of 42.10 seconds. In the 400m, Cameron Ruffini placed seventh (1:02.68) and Breanna Casais followed closely behind in eighth (1:03.14).
Distance runners also contributed strong results; Alex Grivas set a new personal record in the mile with a time of 5:24.99, and Ava Biemuller had the top finish among distance runners by placing fifth in the event with her own personal best of 10:34.02.
In field events, Scepkowski added to her achievements by finishing second in the high jump with a clearance of 1.60 meters—a mark that places her among the top-20 nationally in Division III for that event this season. Lia Malave led TCNJ in long jump with a mark of 5.32 meters.
Allison Lavin concluded TCNJ’s efforts at the meet by taking second place in both shot put (11.13 meters) and weight throw (14.34 meters).
