FOIA Request to The College of New Jersey regarding recent course syllabi on August 6, 2025.

A Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request was submitted by Mercer Times to The College of New Jersey seeking access to academic records. The request, sent under the New Jersey Open Public Records Act, specifically asks for a complete list of course syllabi for all undergraduate and graduate courses offered during the Spring 2025 semester. This includes syllabi from all departments, schools, and colleges, regardless of whether the courses were conducted in-person, online, or through hybrid formats.

The request also seeks accompanying metadata such as course titles and numbers, instructor names, department or academic unit affiliations, and course delivery formats. The purpose of this request is to aid in news reporting efforts that hold public institutions accountable and ensure transparency.

Mercer Times has requested these records in electronic format and has asked for a fee waiver based on their role as a media organization involved in public information dissemination. The requester is affiliated with The Coalition Opposing Governmental Secrecy, a non-profit organization that supports media companies and advocacy groups in investigating governmental actions using FOIA and Sunshine Laws.

Our team will continue to keep you updated as we gather and report news related to this request and other matters of public interest. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions or need further clarification regarding this matter.
