Five members of The College of New Jersey (TCNJ) Lions football team have been named to the College Sports Communicators (CSC) Academic All-District Football Team. Tyler Addonisio, Anthony Edwards, Sam Kuhns, Justin Kurc, and Teddy Shepardson were recognized for their combined achievements on the field and in the classroom.
The CSC Academic All-District program highlights student-athletes from across the country who excel both academically and athletically. Honorees are eligible for advancement to the CSC Academic All-America ballot, with first-, second-, and third-team selections scheduled to be announced on January 27. The program recognizes football players in four divisions: NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III, and NAIA.
Addonisio transferred from Franklin & Marshall and became a key starter at right guard for TCNJ. He contributed to an offense that ranked 34th nationally in rushing yardage with an average of 207.7 yards per game and led the New Jersey Athletic Conference (NJAC) in time of possession at nearly 32 minutes per game. He was also named to the All-NJAC second team and is now a two-time Academic All-District honoree.
Edwards played as a rotational defensive back during his junior season, appearing in all but one game and recording ten tackles.
Kuhns started at cornerback as a sophomore, finishing fifth on the team with 33 tackles. He also made an interception, blocked two kicks, and returned a fumble for a touchdown.
Kurc earned third team All-Region honors as well as first team All-NJAC recognition this past fall. As senior co-captain, he intercepted three passes during NJAC play—returning one for a touchdown—and finished the season with six interceptions overall. Kurc has received Academic All-District honors twice during his career.
Shepardson moved into a starting role at center as a sophomore, joining Addonisio on the offensive line for eight starts this season.
The CSC’s Division II and III Academic All-America programs receive partial financial support from their respective NCAA governance structures to help cover award fulfillment costs for 2025-26 honorees. The NAIA program receives similar support through its own governance structure. More information about these programs can be found at https://academicallamerica.com/.
“The 2025 Academic All-District Football Teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation’s top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom,” according to Tuesday’s announcement by CSC.
