This recognition places Capital Health among 323 hospitals nationwide to receive this award, highlighting its commitment to high standards in heart attack patient care.
The award signifies that Capital Health’s Chest Pain Center has achieved an aggressive goal of treating heart attack patients according to the clinical guidelines set by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. Dr. Lara Samson, medical director of Capital Health’s Chest Pain Center, stated, “This accreditation from the ACC validates the unwavering dedication of our entire team.”
Dr. Harit Desai, medical director of the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at Capital Health, noted that receiving this award is a significant step for their center and acknowledged their team’s contributions to quality improvement.
To earn this recognition, Capital Health demonstrated sustained achievement in the Chest Pain – MI Registry over two consecutive years (2023 and 2024), performing at high levels on specific performance measures. The registry involves a robust quality improvement process using data to enhance adherence to guideline recommendations.
