Capital Health has announced the immediate closure of its satellite emergency department and outpatient clinic located on Bert Avenue in Trenton, NJ. This decision follows reports from structural engineers, architects, and demolition experts indicating significant structural issues in an adjacent building that pose a threat to the safety of the medical facility.

The closure affects services provided at the location leased from Trinity Health on the former St. Francis campus. To ensure the safety of employees, patients, visitors, and students, operations at this site will cease without delay.

Starting at 7 a.m. on June 5th, the satellite emergency department will no longer accept patients. The outpatient clinic closed today at 4:30 p.m., with patients redirected to other facilities for medical care.

For those requiring emergency or acute medical services, Capital Health continues to operate two full-service emergency departments and inpatient hospitals in Mercer County. These are located at Brunswick Ave in the Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton and at Scotch Road in Pennington’s Capital Health Medical Center – Hopewell.

Emergency medical service agencies have been asked to transport ambulance patients to other area emergency departments. Patients experiencing medical emergencies should call 911 for appropriate transportation by emergency services. Those opting for self-transport should avoid the Hamilton Avenue campus and seek care at another nearby emergency department.

Patients who typically receive primary or specialized care at the outpatient clinic can visit Capital Health locations at 433 Bellevue Ave (East Trenton Clinic/Internal Medicine Residency Clinic) and 832 Brunswick Ave (walk-in care clinic). For assistance or inquiries, they may contact 609-815-7296.
