Senate Republican Leader Anthony M. Bucco has called for a bipartisan effort to advance the Gateway Tunnel project, emphasizing its importance for New Jersey’s infrastructure and economy.
“New Jersey’s transportation and infrastructure future depends on the Gateway Tunnel getting finished, not stalled or stopped. This is a once-in-a-generation project that directly impacts our workers, our businesses, and the daily commute of hundreds of thousands of residents, including many from my legislative district,” Bucco stated.
Bucco highlighted the consequences of unreliable rail service. “When rail service is unreliable, it’s not just an inconvenience, it’s a detriment to people’s time, costs employers productivity, and hurts our region economic strength. The Northeast Corridor is the backbone of commerce in this part of the country, and we cannot allow critical infrastructure to remain vulnerable because of delays in Washington.”
He urged leaders to work together: “I encourage leaders on all sides to come together, set politics aside, and find a clear path forward to complete this project for the benefit of New Jersey residents and the entire region.”
Bucco serves as Senate Republican Leader in the New Jersey Legislature for the 25th Legislative District and chairs the Senate Judiciary Committee while also serving on the Senate Budget and Appropriations Committee. More details about his legislative work—including constituent services through his district office and email—can be found on his official website.
He regularly sponsors and co-sponsors bills as part of his committee responsibilities and participates in discussions on major state issues (source).
