U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman, who serves New Jersey’s 12th district, used her Twitter account to reflect on Martin Luther King Jr. Day and address ongoing health care concerns in her constituency.
On January 19, 2026, Watson Coleman posted about Martin Luther King Jr.’s enduring legacy: “On #MLKDay2026, I’m reflecting on this quote from his ‘Letter from Birmingham Jail’:
‘Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere. Whatever affects one directly, affects all indirectly.’
These words ring true in this nation today just as it did in 1963. We must remain”.
Later that day, she shared her participation at a commemorative event: “Today, I had the honor of speaking at the 50th Anniversary of the Frontiers International Plainfield Area Martin Luther King Breakfast.
In a speech in Chicago in 1967, Dr. King identified three evils, what he called the ‘triple-pronged sickness of racism, materialism, and”.
On January 21, 2026, Watson Coleman addressed health care issues affecting her district: “I have 27,000 constituents who will lose their heath care and 32,000 who saw their health care premiums skyrocket because of the Big, Ugly Bill.
I don’t need Republicans to continue pushing their lies about why we are in this health care crisis. Nor do the American people.”
Watson Coleman has served as U.S. Representative for New Jersey’s 12th District since replacing Rush Holt Jr. in 2015. Before her tenure in Congress began that year, she served in the New Jersey General Assembly between 2006 and 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township at age 78, Watson Coleman holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University earned in 1985.
