Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, posted a series of statements on her social media account addressing recent U.S. foreign policy actions and commemorating the life of former Congressman Dick Zimmer.
On January 3, 2026, Coleman criticized former President Donald Trump’s policies toward Venezuela, stating: “These are the actions of a rogue state, not the leader of the free world. Trump’s actions today will destabilize Venezuela, and likely the rest of Latin America. The Republican Congress’s failure to hold the President accountable in any way has lead us to the point where he https://t.co/CJHgg9stvQ”.
The following day, January 4, she commented on the death of former Congressman Dick Zimmer: “I’m saddened to learn of the passing of former Congressman Dick Zimmer, a proud New Jerseyan. Congressman Zimmer used his position to pass Megan’s Law, transformative legislation to protect children. Bill and I will keep his wife Marfy and their family in our prayers. https://t.co/ZABv1O9UXW”.
On January 5, Coleman again addressed Trump’s motivations regarding Venezuela: “Trump isn’t hiding who he’s working for. It’s the oil companies. It was never about what’s best for the American people or the Venezuelan people. It was always about what’s best for the bottom lines of his donors. https://t.co/nfdrdAo14x”.
Coleman is known for her long tenure in public service; prior to her current role in Congress, she served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010 and replaced Rush Holt Jr. as representative in 2015. She was born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945 and currently resides in Ewing Township. Coleman holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University earned in 1985.
