U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman, who represents New Jersey’s 12th district in Congress, has recently posted a series of critical statements on social media addressing former President Donald Trump’s actions and Republican policies.

On August 11, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman criticized the deployment of soldiers to a city experiencing declining crime rates by stating, “Trump is sending soldiers into a city with falling crime rates. This is a gross abuse of power, waste of taxpayer dollars, and a completely unacceptable, corrupt misuse of law enforcement. It is authoritarian, and more than that it is an incompetent attempt to exercise control.”

The following day, August 12, 2025, she addressed the GOP budget proposal in another post: “The GOP budget is a giveaway for the kind of wealthy elites who hitched rides with Trump on Epstein’s jet. Billionaire donors and corporate tycoons get even richer, while the poorest families are squeezed even harder. It’s cruelty and corruption on full display.”

On August 13, 2025, Rep. Watson Coleman expressed concerns about former President Trump’s interactions with Russian President Vladimir Putin: “The last time they met, Trump sided with Putin against the US. We can’t trust Trump to put US or Ukrainian interests above his own. The White House must release a full readout of this meeting to the public so we can know who Trump is fighting really for: the US or himself.”

Watson Coleman has served in Congress since 2015 after replacing Rush Holt Jr., following several years in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township at age 78, she holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University earned in 1985.
