U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman, who has represented New Jersey’s 12th district in Congress since 2015, posted a series of statements on social media addressing the January 6th Capitol attack and recent foreign policy actions by President Donald Trump.
On January 7, 2026, Watson Coleman wrote, “Today, I stood with Members of Congress and the families of members of law enforcement who sacrificed their lives to defend the Capitol on #January6th. We cannot let Trump and his allies rewrite the history of one of the darkest moments in the 250-year history of this nation.”
Later that day, she addressed developments following Trump’s return to office: “The attack on the United States Capitol on #January6th left hundreds of officers injured and caused the death of Officer Brian Sicknick. Yet, on his first day back in office, Donald Trump disgracefully pardoned more than 1,500 of those same violent insurrectionists.”
In a separate post regarding U.S. foreign policy and NATO relations, Watson Coleman stated: “Threatening a NATO ally like Denmark with military force is counter to American national security interests, is a violation of treaties the US has signed, and US law. The President’s childish and dangerous insistence on controlling Greenland exposes his disregard for the people”.
Watson Coleman has been an active member of Congress since succeeding Rush Holt Jr. in 2015. She previously served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township, she earned her BA from Thomas Edison State University in 1985.
