Rep. Bonnie Watson Coleman, a U.S. Congresswoman representing New Jersey’s 12th district since 2015, addressed several national issues in a series of posts on her Twitter account between May 1 and May 2, 2026.
On May 1, Coleman commented on the current state of labor rights in the United States, stating: “The Trump Administration and Supreme Court have shown their hostility toward workers who come together and demand what they deserve. In spite of the open hostility towards workers – and arguably in response to it – energy surrounding the labor movement is on the rise.” She also encouraged support for labor efforts by sharing a link.
The following day, as news broke regarding a federal court decision involving mifepristone, Rep. Watson Coleman remarked: “While we sift through the details of the Louisiana v. FDA decision, let US be clear about one thing: Mifepristone was safe and effective when the FDA first approved it over 25 years ago, and it has been safe and effective for the millions of people who have used it to end their”.
Later that same day, she expressed concern over political rhetoric and its potential consequences for public safety: “The President’s words matter. Posts like these increase the risks to Members of Congress including Leader Jeffries. Threats against Members increased 58% between 2024 and 2025. For years, threats against me and my office were rare. In the last year since – Trump returned to the”.
Coleman has represented New Jersey’s 12th district in Congress since replacing Rush Holt Jr. in 2015 (https://bioguide.congress.gov/search/bio/W000822). Before her time in Congress, she served in the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden, New Jersey in 1945, Coleman is currently based in Ewing Township and holds a BA from Thomas Edison State University.
