U.S. Representative Bonnie Watson Coleman, who represents New Jersey’s 12th district in Congress, posted a series of statements on social media addressing issues ranging from economic security to law enforcement conduct between January 23 and January 24, 2026.
On January 23, Watson Coleman emphasized the nation’s responsibility to support its citizens: “In the wealthiest country in the world, we DO have the means and the obligation to fight to establish a floor beneath which no person, no family, no child can fall.” She followed up later that day with another post stating, “Congrats on doing your jobs.”
The following day, Watson Coleman addressed concerns about Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) actions after a reported shooting incident. On January 24 she wrote: “ICE is terrorizing our communities. Ignoring the rights of native born and immigrant alike. After today’s shooting, ICE attempted to order local police out of the area. Unacceptable. This merciless disregard for human life and safety must be stopped. This week I voted not to”
Watson Coleman has served as a member of Congress since 2015 after succeeding Rush Holt Jr., according to her official biography. Prior to her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the New Jersey General Assembly from 2006 to 2010. Born in Camden in 1945 and currently residing in Ewing Township, Watson Coleman graduated from Thomas Edison State University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1985.
