New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced a significant allocation of $75 million for school construction and capital needs in districts across the state. According to a statement from the New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) and the New Jersey Schools Development Authority (SDA), the funding will support various projects aimed at improving school infrastructure.

Governor Murphy emphasized the importance of creating safe and conducive learning environments for students, stating, "This funding will go toward critical school infrastructure projects throughout the state, bolstering our school communities and ensuring districts are able to meet the needs of their students."

Dr. Angelica Allen-McMillan, Acting Commissioner of the Department of Education, highlighted the collaboration between the state government and the School Development Authority, expressing that the funding will provide necessary renovations and upgrades to school buildings.

In a similar vein, Manuel Da Silva, SDA Chief Executive Officer, acknowledged Governor Murphy's unwavering support for public education, affirming that the funding will help districts address essential repairs in their schools.

On another front, First Lady Tammy Murphy led a roundtable discussion to commemorate Maternal Health Awareness Day, where she discussed the significance of the Family Connects NJ program. The program offers in-home visits by specially trained nurses to support families and newborns, providing essential services and connections to community programs.

First Lady Tammy Murphy highlighted the critical support that Family Connects NJ offers to families during the post-delivery period, stating, "Family Connects NJ ensures New Jersey families receive the critical support they need to prevent complications during that tenuous and sensitive time."

Furthermore, Governor Phil Murphy revealed his intention to nominate Francis (Fran) K. O’Connor as Commissioner of the New Jersey Department of Transportation. O’Connor, a seasoned transportation executive, expressed his enthusiasm for serving the state and implementing the Governor's transportation vision.

In a legal development, Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin announced that an Indiana-based firearms dealer has agreed to cease selling large capacity magazines to New Jersey residents in violation of state laws. The settlement with Element Armament, LLC includes injunctive terms and a monetary settlement to resolve the allegations.

Lastly, Governor Phil Murphy lifted the State of Emergency declared due to severe weather and winter storms, urging residents to remain cautious as they resume their daily activities. Governor Murphy expressed gratitude to first responders and essential workers for their efforts in assisting communities during the challenging weather conditions.
