Governor Murphy of New Jersey has expressed his concern over the ongoing humanitarian crisis in Gaza. In a statement released on March 27, 2024, he emphasized the significance of the holy month of Ramadan for Muslims worldwide, acknowledging the pain and despair felt by Muslim, Arab American, and Palestinian American communities amidst the conflict.

"The holy month of Ramadan is a time of reflection and rejuvenation for Muslims around the world, including many of our fellow New Jerseyans," Governor Murphy stated. He further highlighted the devastating impact of the conflict, with tens of thousands of innocent civilians losing their lives over the past six months and hundreds of thousands, especially women and children, facing the risk of starvation.

Governor Murphy voiced his support for the Biden Administration's efforts to secure an immediate and sustained ceasefire, emphasizing the importance of releasing hostages held by Hamas to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid into Gaza. He also called for the dismantling of Hamas, citing the organization's history of violence and terrorism.

"The international community must stand united in demanding the dismantling of Hamas," Governor Murphy asserted. He underscored the need for a ceasefire by all parties involved to bring an end to hostilities, foster stability in the region, and pave the way for a two-state solution that would ensure long-term peace and security for Israelis, Palestinians, and the entire Middle East.

As Governor Murphy stands in solidarity with those affected by the crisis in Gaza, his call for immediate action and a path towards peace reflects the urgency of the situation and the importance of international cooperation in resolving the conflict.
